Post Secret: When I wrote on your hand I should have written "I love you"

Lights come up on TYLER and ALECIA in the cafeteria. TYLER is quiet while he eats

ALECIA
So yesterday in math you missed a quiz, and in English we have to read to essays and do journals for homework.

TYLER
Thanks.

There is a long pause as they eat.

ALECIA
Is something wrong?

TYLER
No. Why do you ask?

ALECIA
You've just been acting kinda funny.

long pause

ALECIA
So, are you okay?

TYLER
Yeah I guess.

ALECIA
You guess?

TYLER
Its just that. You know that girl I told you about?

ALECIA
[hopeful]
Yeah?

TYLER
She's just been sending me these mixed messages, I don't know if she wants to be with me, or not.

ALECIA
Well you could just ask her.

TYLER
Well I did, and she just said she needed to "process", what ever that means.

ALECIA
[disappointed]
Oh.

TYLER
Yeah. [pause] So what about you, what have you been up to?

ALECIA
[picking at her food, sadly, not making eye contact]
Oh, nothing.

TYLER
Hey you okay? You sound kind of down.

ALECIA
Oh I'm okay. I'm sure everything will work out for you.

TYLER
[sighing]
I hope so.

ALECIA
You nervous?

TYLER
Yeah.

ALECIA
Well, I have to go takes pen out of back pocket, takes TYLER'S hand and write "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and draw a little smiley face] It'll be okay, don't worry.

ALECIA exits holding back tears. Lights fade.
